Nola Musicians for Palestine

Wallah Lazra3ak Bi'Dar

Context

‘Wallah lazra3ak Bi-ad-daar’ (‘I swear to God, I will plant you at home’), reminds us that the Palestinian liberation struggle is not tied just to liberation struggles of all people, but to the struggle for climate justice as well. The song calls for a free Palestine and a “Green Palestine,” as the author “vows to plant the almond sapling in [their] home, and to water this land with [their] blood so [it] can blossom and grow.” It’s a stark reminder that the core of indigeneity is not the domination of the land, but rather fostering a connection to and relationship with it.
